Easy Felt Birthday Crown

I can't believe my little girl is one.  It is extremely bittersweet for me.  I love that she is healthy and growing and changing and learning new things, but on the other hand, she's my baaaaaaaaayyyybeeeee!!

I think I will always think of her like this.

As much as I have begged asked her to stay my tiny sweet little baby, she has insisted on growing over the last year into our sweet little one year old.

Ummmm . . . . just in case you missed it . . . check out this 10 month face.

Ha!!  I love Quinny.

To celebrate her birthday at home with just our sweet little family, I decided to make her a felt birthday crown.

When I say this is an easy project, what I mean to say is that it is so easy, I did it the morning of Quinn's birthday while making my whole family breakfast.  And no, it's not that I'm just that awesome.  It really is easy.

I started with a piece of craft felt from JoAnns.  This pretty pink polkadot one was about a dollar, but the solid colors are even less.

I drew a little crown like shape on the back with pen, and then folded it in half and cut, so that it would be symmetrical.  (I wish I had more pictures too . . . but remember, birthday excitement, making breakfast, and making birthday crown . . . )  If you look closely at this picture, you can actually still see some of the pen.

Then I just sewed on elastic to one side, measured it up to Quinn's head, cut the elastic to fit, pinned, and sewed the other side.  You wouldn't even need a sewing machine for this, you could easily hand sew it.

Then I hot glued on a little number one that I cut out of more craft felt free hand.  I actually cut out two number ones and sandwiched them on because one was a bit thin.  And voila!  A pretty birthday crown for my baby.

  5. Boys like crowns too. I made some for my grandsons as a little gift when I went to visit them. They were a little older and I sewed on some buttons with bling. They were so cute too. I love the polka dot felt. Great touch!
