Gavin has a snow day today.  Which would be fine, except for a few minor details.  First, it was a special P day at school . . . pajamas and popcorn, so he had a meltdown when I told him there was no school.  Second, I have tons of things I was hoping to get done while he was at school today.  Things that little eyes are not allowed to see (like wrapping presents for Daddy, presents that he will want to blab about!!).  Third, at this very moment, he is singing his Christmas concert at the top of his lungs in my ear as I try to type this and his sister tries to sleep.  Fourth, THERE IS NO SNOW!  None.  Seriously.  There’s a little rain, it’s a little slushy, but there really is no snow.  Come on people!  This is Wisconsin!!  I know we haven’t really had much snow, but we are tough!!

Anyway.

Want to see how I display my Christmas cards??

It’s distinctly possible that I am the only one who struggles with what to do with all these gorgeous cards that come in at the end of the year.

I love getting them.  I know with FB and blogs, and the easy ability to text photos, it’s not like I haven’t seen how these beautiful faces have grown over the last year, but there is something so wonderful about the combination of getting mail that isn’t a bill or junk with a cute face and a sweet holiday wish that makes my heart happy.

And for so long, I would just let these cards pile up on my counter over the month of December, not really showing them off.  But this year, I won the holiday card conundrum!  Bwha-HA!

Remember the 8,000 pictures of Quinn I hung over our fireplace for her Rainbow Party?  That kind of inspired this.

Clear packing tape (suuuuuuuper classy), thick cord from the yarn section of Michaels, and tiny wooden clothes pins.  Done!

And I love how slowly over the course of the month, it has made our mantle more and more homey and holiday-ish.  (That last made up word was brought to you by the fine people who also make NyQuil.)

Okay, wish me luck for the rest of the “snow” day.

I use this concept but hang my cards over my fireplace on my garland (greenery) by sticking a pinhole in the card & hanging with ornament hooks. You can also blend in other ornaments/berries etc. Looks beautiful!
