Baby's First Birthday: Framed Hopes
There are a few kids in my life that I love almost as much as I love my own children. And most of those kids are my nieces and nephews. Recently, my brother's beautiful daugher, Carina, turned one.

Black Bean Chorizo Soup
My family is . . . special. And I'm not talking special like diamonds in the rough. Sure, they are wonderful. But I'm talking about special as in . . . unique. Particularly when it comes to dietary needs. All of them. Sigh. They really love me for my blog.

Mint Oreo Bark (a.k.a. I MUST WIN!)
My brother and I (along with Nathan and my brother-in-law) are in a weight loss competition. The goal is to be the first one to lose 8% of your starting weight. My brother, John, looks pretty innocent and nice, doesn't he? All lovey dovey with my newborn baby Quinn.

Give Your Valentine a Fortune
Nathan. Stop reading this. It's not Valentine's Day yet.
Fortune cookies have this really romantic quality to me. Which may seem odd if you don't know me, because . . . they're fortune cookies. And if you do know me, it may seem odd because I'm not a particularly romantic person. For example, my idea of romance right now is Nathan making the bed in the morning so that every time I walk by our room I don't have to think, "Ugh. There's a mess in there." Or doing the dishes for me . . . that is super romantic.

Love Birds: Valentine's Day Bird Feeders
I kind of love these. They are so simple, but so sweet. I first saw them as a wedding favor idea. What a great idea, right?? I would love to get something like this at a wedding. (As a side note, a good friend of mine from college is getting married this summer, and I am now obsessing over wedding details.)

Make Your Own Watercolors
Need more red paint? We do. We always do. And by "we," I mean Gavin. He is perpetually worried that we are running out of red paint, his favorite color. In fact, if I paint with him, each dip I make into the red paint elicits a small gasp from him, followed by, "Can you please not use all the red paint??"
