NFL Logo Etched Glasses

Have I told you about my new found obsession with Armour Etch??

{Probably not, because I'm absolutely horrible at photographing the finished product.}

Recently when I finished my Brewer's glasses, I showed a picture to my brother, and he promptly asked me to make 32 NFL glasses.  One with each team's logo.

Ummm . . . in case you were wondering . . . that's a lot of glasses.

I am now intimately familiar with each NFL logo.

I did them with my Silhouette, and contact paper from the Dollar Store.  Though I must say, the transfer paper was a must, especially on the glasses with lots and lots of intricate detail.

I'm kind of proud of how they turned out, especially the ones with all the detail.
Oh Viking.  Your braids are so tiny and so beautiful.  Too bad my brother roots for the Packers, who have the lamest logo ever.  (I may have just gotten myself black listed from the family.)

  1. These would be so very expensive from Pottery Barn! I'm particularly fond of Vikings one...I have an actual Helga hat when I cheer on my team! (Darn Pack!) Are you a Midwesterner?

    1. Dorothy, I would talk smack to you about football . . . but it sounds like I care about football just about as much as you do :)

  3. You made 32. You are a good sister. They turned out great. I never would have thought to use contact paper as the outline... Perfect cheap solution. Cheers!

    1. Yeah, contact paper from the dollar store. It works perfect! I just put it right on to the cutting mat, like with freezer paper.

  4. These are awesome! I made a Colts beer glass for my brother-in-law and few years ago the same way, but I can't imagine making all 32 teams. I love using the contact paper too instead of vinyl..so much cheaper! I've actually started to use lint roller paper instead of transfer paper for small projects :)

  5. Wow! I haven't done well with round/curved surfaces. Any tips? Pinning from the pinterest party at online blogcon!

    1. Thanks for the pin Laura! The best advice I can give is to use the transfer paper, apply the contact paper to the glass slooooowly, and put on enough contact paper so that if the etching cream drips, you are still ok. I put an extra inch at the top and then put the glasses upside down will they were etching. Also, I went over each one and made sure there were no air bubbles anywhere near the design. I actually re-cut a couple teams after applying the paper because I couldn't get the bubbles out.

Oooo, I thought of one more tip. Apply the paper horizontally on the glass, rather than vertically.

All that said, I do think etching flat is a lot easier!

  6. Is it wrong that I like them better with the contact paper on? That's awesome contact paper!

  7. That is amazing!!! I agree with Melissa, that is great contact paper!

Oh and I have been etching vases for my wedding, and I find if I put some masking tape around the edges of the contact paper it helps with the dripping as well.

  9. Where did you get the pints? I keep trying to find a reasonable place to buy some for my husband's 30th birthday party.

    1. These are the ones I used.

They were cheaper and on Prime when I bought them a month ago : /

But they came in perfect condition, not a single one broke, unlike what some of the reviews suggested.

    1. Thanks! I used my Silhouette software, and their trace feature. Another blogger did the same thing, but with good pictures to show you how :) http://www.thatswhatchesaid.net/2013/01/07/painted-nfl-serving-dishes/

I love the frosted look...I might have to make some of these for hockey season now that they are playing again! Awesome job! http://www.thatswhatchesaid.net/2013/01/07/painted-nfl-serving-dishes/
