Strawberry Nutella Pretzel Bites | Nutella stuffed pretzels in the shape of cute little strawberries!
I have a problem. A theme addiction problem. With parties. With get togethers. With gifts.
I just want it all to . . . go.
One of my favorite gifts to give is a gift basket. And in a classic Type A sort of way, I like to give the perfect gift. The gift that screams, I know you so well, and hey, by the way, did you notice it all coordinates?? One of my favorite gifts that I ever gave was a giant basket to my mom, who loathed winter. I gave her a Winter Survival Kit . . . socks, warm pants pj pants, a cozy hat, tea, a big coffee mug, books to snuggle up in front of the fire and read . . . she loved it! And it was coordinated. And I won Christmas that year. (I know. I need help.)
So when it came time to pulling together an end of the year gift for Gavin’s teacher, I wanted to give her something with a theme. Something with a theme like . . . Thank You For Helping Me Grow. And in it I wanted to include a treat . . . something shaped like a flower? Something that tasted like a flower? Portable dirt cake?
And then I thought of these!
These are based on the super cute Peanut Butter Pretzel Pumpkins, only with a more summery (and garden themed!!) shape and Nutella instead of peanut butter.
I’m so happy with how cute these turned out and they could not be more delicious!! I love pure Nutella (my happy place might be a quiet room a jar of Nutella and a spoon . . . ). But you need to mix it with powdered sugar to make it more formable. I was worried that would change the Nutella taste, but it didn’t. It’s as Nutellay delicious as I hoped it would be!
And perfect for a gift basket thanking the woman who taught Gavin so much this year.
Strawberry Nutella Pretzel Bites
(makes about two dozen)
(makes about two dozen)
- 1/3 of a cup Nutella softened
- 1/3 of a cup of powdered sugar
- 24 pretzels
- 24 green candy coated sunflower seeds
- a bag of red candy melts
- 1/4 of a cup melted white chocolate
- Mix the softened Nutella and powdered sugar together.
- Spread evenly in the pretzels, setting them on wax paper.
- Put the pretzels (on the wax paper) in the freezer for 15 minutes. While they are setting, melt the candy melts following the instructions on the bag.
- Take two pretzels at a time out of the freezer and dip them in the chocolate. Note: mine were cute on the front and a mess on the back, but delicious all around. If you want them to look more perfect, you may want to gently dip the backs in the red melts after the first layer sets.
- While the red is still wet, place a sunflower seed at the top of each one for the stem.
- Once the red candy melts are dry, melt the white chocolate, and pour it into a zip lock bag. Cut a very small hole in the tip of the bag and use it to dab on the strawberry seeds
