I’ve had so many people ask me for what books Gavin is into lately.  That kid loves books!  He gets hooked on a series and he flies through them.  And because I know we are at the beginning of summer and a good book series is a good thing to have when it comes to an eight year old boy, I thought I would share some of Gavin’s favorites.  There are a lot of good ones in this list, but Gavin said that his favorites are, in this order, Warriors, then Seekers, then Wings of Fire.  (In fact, I had him pose for the above picture with the first book in the Wings of Fire series and he started reading it all over again and forgot I was even taking his picture.)

Below the books I have included a quote of why Gavin likes the series so much . . . . but {cough} it’s not the most in depth assessment ever, so feel free to click on the links to the books themselves to get a better description on Amazon, lol!

And while I have for boys in the title here, that is mainly because I think a lot of moms struggle to find books their boys will love because they tend to differ from the books they themselves liked as little girls.  But!  This is not to suggest that girls wouldn’t love these books too!  We have a family friend who is a girl in this age range who loves all of these series.  I’m just going for what will work on Google, people.

I’m curious… Why say that these books are must-reads for boys? Why not girls as well? Why does gender matter when it comes to reading material? Plenty of girls love adventure books, heck I read Henry Huggins when I was in the single digits and I’ve been a girl all my life! 🙂

I actually addressed that in the post Rowan 🙂 Definitely appropriate for girls. This is what I had to say: And while I have for boys in the title here, that is mainly because I think a lot of moms struggle to find books their boys will love because they tend to differ from the books they themselves liked as little girls. But! This is not to suggest that girls wouldn’t love these books too! We have a family friend who is a girl in this age range who loves all of these series. This is great! I’ll be referencing this quite a bit in the next couple of years (and crossing my fingers these might help to get Santi a bit more excited about reading!).
