You guys, it suddenly got all COLD in my neck of the woods. Like I was getting my kids ready for school the other day and when we opened up the back door to head outside I was blasted with cold air that woke me up more than my morning coffee did. And I have total mixed emotions about it. I kind of am loving the bundling up of fall – yesterday my girls and I looked like a tween squad in our matching brown boots – but I’m also living in fear of what’s to come. My kids keep talking about how excited they are for snow and I want to yell at them, “Fools!! You just haven’t lived through enough Mid-West winters!!”
THE HUNT FOR EASY SIDE DISH RECIPES
As we head into the depths of fall, and with Thanksgiving just around the corner, I am on the prowl for as many side dish recipes as I can for you guys. I love that the new trend on the food block is to mix up the sides. Twists on traditional ideas, but also brand new sides that compliment all the traditional flavors of Thanksgiving.
So when I got my hands on the new cookbook from the author’s of Slow Roasted Italian, Donna and Chad Elick, I made a bee-line for this recipe for roasted sweet potatoes. Their new cookbook, The Simple Kitchen, is full of amazing and easy recipes. So many great dinner ideas, appetizers, and sides that you will drool over.
