This Cookie Butter Magic Shell is the fun childhood ice cream treat in the flavor of delicious Cookie Butter!! Not sure what Cookie Butter is? Read all about it here!
My seven year old has become a back seat driver.
Gavin: “Mom. The speed limit here is 55.”
Gavin: “You are NOT going 55!! Mom! You are speeding!!”
Me: “How do you even know???”
Gavin: “I can see from here” (Coming all the way from the far back of the minivan.)
Me: “How is that even possible . . . ?”
Gavin: “Mom, I really think you should slow down . . . ”
Gavin: “MOM!! You are really pushing my buttons!! Slow down!”
Quinn: “GO FASTER!!”
Gavin: “Mom should NOT go faster! Speeding isn’t good, Coo!”
Gavin: “Mom. Have you ever gotten a speeding ticket .. . . ??”
Me: “Ummmm . . . . maybe like one or two. But your dad has gotten way more!”
Gavin: “I’m never getting any speeding tickets. Ever.”
Quinn: “I AM!!”
And that my friends is the perfect glimpse into my children’s personalities. Anyone have a cage to keep Quinn in for the next 40 years?
In happier news? Cookie Butter Magic Shell!! I actually made this a year ago with vegetable oil after I made my Nutella Magic Shell. It was good, but I really wanted to try it with coconut oil. I recently got some and tried it again, and it worked just as well as with the vegetable oil pictured here. So you can certainly use either.

Because it is made with something (cookie butter) that is already creamy and has oil in it as opposed to something hard (like chocolate chips), it’s not going to give you that signature crunch that magic shell normally does. However! It does stiffen up on the ice cream, and it is super delicious!
Cookie Butter Magic Shell
- 1/2 cup cookie butter
- 1 TBSP coconut oil
- In a microwave safe bowl, combine the oil and cookie butter.
- Microwave in 30 second intervals at 50% power, mixing in between, until fully combined. About a minute or a minute and a half.
- Once cooled, drizzle over ice cream.
- Store at room temperature.
