Infused Water Recipes will make it so easy to stay hydrated this summer. They are made with simple ingredients that add so much flavor.

Every time our kids leave the house, they have a bottle of water with them. It is remarkable to me how different we all feel when we are well hydrated. A full bottle of water can mean the difference between a crabby and not crabby Lisa.

This summer I’m adding fruit to my water to make it even easier to stay hydrated. While any fruit will kick your water up a notch, these recipe combinations are so fun and delicious.

How to Infuse Water with Fruit

This is just a brief overview of how to bump up the flavor in your water. Find the individual recipes for the different flavors both within the post and at the bottom in the recipe card.

  1. Add the fruit and/or herbs to the bottom of an empty 32 ounce mason jar.
  2. Fill the mason jar with purified water.
  3. Let the fruit sit for a few hours and then enjoy!

Fruit for Infused Water

Just about any fruit works well to infuse into water. But there are definitely fruits that work better and tips and tricks for infusing.

  • Pick fruits that you already like the flavor of. This isn’t the moment to try to make your kids like melon if they don’t already.
  • Wash fruit well before using. We want the flavor of the fruit and not anything from the outside of it to get infused into the water.
  • Slice fruit to help the flavors get into the water more. This is especially true of fruit that has a skin, like grapes.
  • Be mindful that not all skin should be included when you infuse. Citrus fruit doesn’t need to be peeled first, think about all the flavor in the skin! But something like kiwi would be peeled.
  • Mix and match flavors! Below is just ideas. Strawberries and lemon go together great as we know from my Strawberry Lemonade. And I think orange and cucumber would be super fun. It would be great to let kids come up with ideas!

Storing Infused Water Recipes

These infused water recipes should be consumed within 48 hours of drinking. After that the fruit starts to break down too much and you are left with less than pleasant flavors. I like storing them in the refrigerator so they are ice cold.

These mason jars are my favorite for storing them, and even for drinking out of! But you could of course look at the many infused water bottles that are sold online.

Lemon Rosemary Infused Water

This is my favorite of all the infused water recipes. The combination of rosemary and lemon go perfectly together and they are both so light and refreshing. Perfect for a hot day. You will need:

  • Lemons: You will need three lemons. Look for lemons that are bright yellow, firm but not hard, and have no blemishes.
  • Fresh Rosemary: You will need four fresh rosemary sprigs. Look for rosemary that is green throughout the stem or remove any pieces that have started to brown.

Add them to a mason jar, and fill with filters water. It will taste like lemon immediately, but if you want to taste the rosemary wait another few hours.

Strawberry Mint Infused Water

If you’ve never had strawberry and mint together, I highly recommend it. It is light and refreshing and feels a little like what summer would taste like if it had a taste. You will need:

  • Strawberries: You will need 1 cup of fresh strawberries, stems removed and cut in half. Look for strawberries that are vibrant red with no blemishes.
  • Mint Leaves: You will need a handful of mint. Look for leaves that are bright green without any brown spots.

Add the ingredients to a mason jar and fill it with filtered water.

If you want to get really fancy, you can slap the mint leaves in the palm of your hand to help pull out more of their minty flavor.

Orange Basil Infused Water

Orange and basil compliment each other perfectly, and they are delicious together in this infused water recipe. You will taste the orange immediately and it will take a little longer for the basil to sneak in. You will need:

  • Oranges: You will need two oranges, sliced. Look for oranges that are firm, but not hard with no soft spots or blemishes.
  • Basil: You will need a small handful of basil that is bright green with no wilted leaves.

Add the ingredients to a 32 ounce mason jar and fill with water.

Cucumber Melon Infused Water

I really like the taste of cucumber infused into things. But sometimes it feels like it needs another extra little something. This cucumber melon infused water is the perfect balance of cucumber and sweet. You will need:

  • Muskmelon: You will need 1 cup cubed muskmelon with the rice removed. Honeydew melon would be delicious in this as well!
  • Cucumber: You will need 1/2 cup sliced cucumber.

Add the ingredients to a 32 ounce mason jar and fill it with water.

Healthy Snacks

If you are looking to keep your family hydrated and full of energy this summer, here are some great snacks that we love.

  • Pickled Eggs: This isn’t something I have gotten my kids on board with yet, but I love them! They are full of protein and so good!
  • Granola Bars: These are delicious, easy to make, and your kids can help you pick out what to put in them.
  • Chocolate Hummus: This is a favorite of ours! It tastes like chocolate frosting!
