This Jalapeño Popper Pull Apart Bread comes together easily and is totally delicious. Good luck walking away from this!
Last week my dear old dad, who will be 80 this year and still likes to go for 40 mile bike rides, had open heart surgery. (Ironic, I know, to share that with this recipe.) I questioned whether I should share that with ya’ll or not, but I remembered all the times he freely shared information about me and I feel good about it 😉
The surgery was incredibly nerve wracking. Obviously, necessary, but I wish he wouldn’t have had to have it. I was so so worried.
So, before he got taken back for surgery he was telling us, “They said I will be home in 4 days! That’s Sunday! I’ll be home for the Packer game!” Old Man Winter, as Nathan affectionally refers to him, is a long long time Packer fan. My brother looked at me and said, “That’s totally not what the surgeon said. They said a week in the hospital.”
The surgery went really really well. It was one of those moments where I didn’t realize just how stressed I was until I didn’t have to be stressed anymore. And then the surgeon came in to talk to us. And he said he couldn’t have been happier with how things went and my dad would be home in six days . . . . with the day after the surgery being day 1.
I sent my friends this text: “He’s out of surgery, it went great! They are saying 6 days. He’s going to be so pissed. ???? ”
And when my dad woke up and we started talking about it . . . he was still stuck on Sunday. You guys. He really wanted to watch the Packer game at home . . . . and he did. Old Man Winter, likes to prove everyone wrong, and so even though he is just rounding the corner on 80 he went home from the hospital in about half the time most people do.
Kind of a testimony for biking.
And being a stubborn mule.
And did you guys watch the game??? What a game they gave him! I sent him a text message afterwards (mind you, it goes to his iPad, because he still has a flip phone), asking if his heart was still in tact after it.
Perfect for a nail biter of a football game is this Jalapeño Popper Pull Apart Bread! I looooooooove pull apart bread. I mean, there really isn’t anything better than melted cheese and bread . . . . except when you add bacon, cream cheese, and jalapeños. 🙂
This bread looks super fancy, but it is not at all hard to put together. It’s messy to eat, and totally delicious and will likely be consumed by all your dear friends standing around it eating it like a bears who have hibernated and are getting their first meal.

Jalapeno Popper Pull Apart Bread
- 16 oz Italian Bread
- 1 pound bacon diced, cooked and drained
- 8 oz cream cheese room temperature
- 1/2 cup pickled jalapeños diced
- 1/2 tsp garlic salt
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- Cut the bread diagonally, cutting down most of the bread, but not all the way through. Turn around and repeat the other direction.
- Cream together the cream cheese, bacon, jalapeños, garlic salt, and mozzarella cheese.
- Do your best to push the all of the mixture into the crevices of the bread.
- Cover losely with tin foil, and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until the mixture is completely melted. Serve immediately.
