I am about to introduce you to a salad dressing that is so good, it might make you tear up. It might on the other hand, just taste really good to you if you aren’t as obsessed with food as I am. This salad dressing is part of a family recipe for Spinach Bacon Salad that my mom passed down to me. The dressing is so delicious that it would be great on a number of different salads. Easy enough to whip up, you can have this classic spinach salad dressing recipe  in your refrigerator all the time.

I love homemade salad dressing recipes, like my Greek Salad Dressing Recipe. They are so easy to throw together and often you have the ingredients you need already in your refrigerator. This spinach salad dressing recipe is no exception.

What is in Spinach Salad Dressing?

You very likely have all the ingredients for this dressing on hand all of the time. The only one you might be missing is the onion … though I often have a bag in my pantry.

  • olive oil
  • ketchup
  • worcestershire sauce
  • sugar
  • white vinegar
  • small onion

Let's Talk Sugar

If you are worried about how much sugar is in this dressing (3/4 cup), start with just 1/4 cup and add from there. Certainly, tastes vary, and if you love it with only 1/4 cup sugar, go for it.

How to Make Spinach Salad Dressing Recipe

The spinach salad dressing recipe calls for a grated onion, as that is how my mom always did it. I personally find that a little tedious and would recommend cutting your onion into eights and then putting it in a food processor and processing until it is very fine. It needs to be smaller than a fine dice. Then add in the remainder of the ingredients and blend until smooth.

How Long Does this Dressing Last?

Because of the fresh onion in this recipe, you will want to store it in the refrigerator and keep it for about a week.

What to Put this Spinach Salad Dressing Recipe on?

This spinach salad with bacon dressing recipe was made specifically for my Spinach Bacon Salad, but it would be great on so many different recipes. Really it’s great for any hearty salad.

  2. Lois says

Can you use canola oil instead of olive oil

    • Lisa Longley says

It will change the taste a little. Canola isn’t my favorite for salad dressings, but it’s a personal preference issue. The recipe will work with either oil.

  3. kathy says

Do you think I could replace sugar with honey

    • Lisa Longley says

I haven’t tried that, but if you do, I would start with only 1/4 cup of honey and add more until you get a taste you like.

  4. cynthia aldrich says

I use light olive oil. Canola oil (canada oil from rape seed) is a GMO.
