How to Make Strawberry Syrup

  1. Bring water, strawberries, and sugar to a boil. Do this over low heat and stir continuously so the sugar doesn’t burn.
  2. Boil for 10 minutes. Once the mixture comes to a full boil, let it continue to boil for 10 minutes, stirring regularly.
  3. Blend the mixture. After the 10 minutes, remove from the heat and blend in a food processor or blender.
  4. Strain the syrup. Now using a mesh metal strainer, strain the syrup to get rid of excess pulp and seeds.

Storing

This syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 1 month in an air tight container.

Freezing

You can also freeze strawberry syrup. Place in a container with about an inch between the syrup and the top of the container to leave room for expansion. Place in the freezer for up to 3 months.

Strawberry Syrup for Drinks

This recipe works a lot like a strawberry simple syrup and can be used in place of regular simple syrup in cocktail recipes. For example, it would be great replacing the simple syrup in a traditional Mojito recipe. This recipe is also amazing in a little champagne to make my Strawberry Bellinis.

Strawberry Milk

This recipe is perfect to replace Hershey’s Strawberry Syrup and make strawberry milk. There really is no need to measure, just fill a glass with milk, and add syrup to taste. My kids love this special treat!

While this is an old recipe that is getting updated, I just couldn’t take out a picture of my middle kiddo enjoying some “pink milk.” She’s seven years older now, but just as sweet.

Strawberry Pancake Syrup

This recipe is also amazing as a topping to pancakes! I have a great Strawberry Pancake recipe coming for you next week, but this syrup is perfect over any type of pancakes.

FAQ

How long does strawberry syrup last?

This recipe will last in your refrigerator for 1 month. As with all recipes, use your best judgment when it comes to using leftovers.

Can you freeze this?

Yes! This is a great recipe to freeze. You can see our instructions above for how to freeze.

Can I use frozen strawberries?

Yes! This is a great way to use up your frozen strawberries. Because they release a lot of liquid as they thaw, I suggest that you let the mixture simmer for closer to 12 minutes to get the consistency you are looking for.
